UK-based retailer Asda has recalled its Smart Price Potato Salad as the product may contain peanuts, according to the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The FSA has issued an allergy alert and noted that this product is a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy to peanuts.

The product associated with the recall is 250g Smart Price Potato Salad with use by date 26 March 2013. No other Asda products are associated with the recall.

Asda has notified the relevant allergy support organisations, which will warn their members about the recall. In addition, customer notices will be displayed in stores, explaining to customers the reason behind the recall.

Customers with an allergy to peanuts are advised not to consume this product but to return it to the nearest Asda store for a full refund.
